Insert LyricsLooking down,
A shattered picture frame lies on the ground.
A photograph,
A woman's face lying there, torn in half.
Shards of light,
Refract the image of another life. Unknown.
There's a feeling I can't quite remember.

The Great British hour
of drama,
The Great British day
of trauma,
The Great British time
for laughter,
Again.

Look about,
A woman's laughing, crying, shouting out.
A tragedy,
Life-changing moments pass in front of me.
Emotionless,
I don't have time for someone else's mess. Not me.
There's a feeling I can't quite remember.

The Great British hour
of drama,
The Great British day
of trauma,
The Great British time
for laughter,
Again.

Turn around,
A nervous bride puts on her wedding gown.
Just begun,
Green shoots will burn beneath the blazing sun.
Overflow,
He doesn't see beyond the excess load. Face first.
There's a feeling he can't quite remember.

The Great British hour
of drama,
The Great British day
of trauma,
The Great British time
for laughter,
Again.

He looks at you,
His gritted teeth, a tribal neck tattoo.
Flashing lights,
The sirens fade into the dull of night.
Level up,
You take a minute to refill your cup. Caffeine.
There's a feeling you can't quite remember.

The Great British hour
of drama,
The Great British day
of trauma,
The Great British time
for laughter,
Again.

Again.

“Green shoots will burn beneath the blazing sun.”

“I was watching TV with my brother and as he flipped through the EPG he commented on the number of programme names that started with the words ‘The Great British…’ (Bake Off, Sewing Bee, Throw Down, etc.)

It gave me the idea to write a song about the disposable media we consume via screens every day that may be British but is far from being great.

Each verse is dedicated to a different genre of this rubbish, from crime dramas and shock advertising to porn and computer games. It’s enough to cause a Great British Breakdown.”
